Hmong Language Platform
Dictionary & Community Platform for Hmong Language
Our Vision
The identity of the Hmong people is built on four fundamental pillars:
Hmong blood and genetic lineage
Our ancestral heritage and genetic connection
Language
The Hmong language as our cultural foundation
Traditions
Customs and practices passed down through generations
Religion and spiritual beliefs
Our spiritual connection and beliefs
If any one of these pillars is lost, the Hmong people will no longer remain the same people we have always been.
Mission
Language has been the foundation of human communication since ancient times. It is not something that can simply be redesigned or reinvented. Therefore, in order to preserve, protect, and accurately correct the Hmong language, we must return to its origins and understand the thousands of years of Hmong history β because the true age of a language is the age of its people.
The original Hmong language has never changed. However, centuries of migration, displacement, and geographical separation have created major variations. As Hmong communities adapted to different regions and countries, new words, pronunciations, and foreign influences were added.
Our mission is to restore, strengthen, and teach the original Hmong language so that Hmong people today can use it correctly, appropriately, intentionally, and effectively in the modern world β ensuring that our language does not fade, distort, or become unrecognizable to future generations.
Preserving the Hmong language is not only about restoring what is original β it is also about elevating the language so it can thrive in the modern era without losing its roots.
Language Upgrade
We pursue three core directions in upgrading the language:
1. Standardization
- β’Establishing a consistent and unified vocabulary system.
- β’Stabilizing pronunciation, meanings, and usage based on the original language.
- β’Removing linguistic distortions caused by foreign influence or incorrect translation.
2. Expansion
- β’Creating new vocabulary using original Hmong linguistic principles.
- β’Adding terminology for modern fields: science, technology, education, medicine, law, social sciences, and global communication.
- β’Ensuring the Hmong language can be used naturally and confidently in every context of today's world while retaining its authentic identity.
3. Digitization
- β’Developing a standardized Hmong dictionary in digital and open-data formats.
- β’Integrating the Hmong language into AI systems, translation technologies, text-to-speech tools, and educational applications.
- β’Transforming the Hmong language into a living, evolving, and technologically supported system capable of long-term growth on global platforms.
